Awesome Newcastle provides $1,000 grants every month to help community projects in Newcastle, Australia.

Since our foundation in 2015 we’ve given over $85,000 in grants, funded from the board members’ pockets, with no strings attached.

We’re for can-do people with ideas and determination. We believe awesome ideas can make a big impact.

We’re here to further the impact with a monthly bag of cash. We’re not a charity and our goal is $0 profit for ourselves.

We’re a foundation created to help the artists, creators, ideas people and leaders of Newcastle.

How It Works


Awesome ideas are submitted by the artists, creators, ideas people and leaders of Newcastle every month. Businesses, individuals, organisations and not-for-profits are all welcome.


Three finalists each month are invited to present to the Awesome Newcastle board during the monthly board meeting. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month.


The board presents the winner with $1,000 cash. The ten board members of Awesome Newcastle provide the grant money from their own pockets. Awesome Newcastle takes nothing in return.
