Canine Care Kits

Canine Care Kits

A Canine Care Kit is a reusable bag that contains dog food, dog treats, collapsible bowl, foam sleeping pad and kennel lead. The goal for Oregon based Alice McKnight, is to create Canine Care Kits to help homeless people meet the basic needs of their dogs.

Many homeless people in Bend have pet dogs, although they have help from soup kitchens and other non-profit groups, there are few services for their pets. Dogs give their owners companionship and unconditional love, along with a sense of responsibility and contribute to the owners’ overall well being.

The groups goal is to distribute their kits at the Family Kitchen, Bend Community Centre and Central Oregon Veterans Outreach. Initially, 50 kits would be made with the view to more being made using donations from local vendors.
